The first trip- Day 5, team multiplied, return to Ishinomaki 仙台、５日目、メンバーがさらに増えて、石巻へ戻る

This post is a bit later than we wanted to post, sorry, there has just been too many blessings!  The evening of March 22, our team was doubled as three brothers in Christ from Okinawa and a brother from CC Kokubunji arrived in Sendai.  The next day, our new team was blessed in such wonderful ways, we were all frankly blown away.  We were led by the Lord back to Ishinomaki, here is what the Lord did:
予定していたよりも更新が遅れてしまいすみませんでした。というのも、多すぎるほどの祝福があったからです。３月22日の夜、キリストにある兄弟たちが沖縄から３人、カルバリチャペル国分寺（Jesus Community）から１人が仙台に到着し、チームに合流しました。翌日、新しくなったチームは神のすばらしい方法で祝福され、ただ感動するばかりでした。主に導かれて、再度石巻に行きました。主がしてくださったことをご報告します。

Before we got on the road, it was time to unload a wonderful amount of gifts!  This 4-ton truck was filled with more supplies from Kokubunji, and the team quickly unloaded the goods.
石巻に向かう前に善意で寄せられた大量のギフトの積み降ろしをしました。国分寺から運ばれた４トントラックいっぱいの積み荷をチームは手早く積み降ろしました。

The team arrived in Ishinomaki and paid their first visit to a group who Chizuo and Maxx had met the day before.  This is a department store roof parking lot, and the open door to the left of the photo opens into a storage area in which 50 people now live.  We are curious as to why they choose to live here instead of moving to a shelter in town, but it is not time to ask them such questions, only to love on them.  After they accepted many of the items we had to offer, we prayed with the whole group.  We plan to visit them again, building relationships and trust and showing them love in action for the long term.
 チームが石巻に着きました。知主夫さんとマックスさんが前日に会ったグループを始めに訪ねました。ここはデパートの屋上にある駐車場です。写真の左側にあるドアは倉庫になっていて50人がそこに住んでいます。町の避難所で生活しないで、なぜここで生活しているのか不思議に思います。ただ、今はそんな質問をしている時ではありません。ただ彼らを愛するだけです。私たちが用意したたくさんの物資を受け取ってくださった後、そこにいた人々全員と一緒に祈りました。また彼らを訪ねるつもりです。長い時間をかけて彼らと信頼関係と信頼関係をつくり、行いの伴う愛を示したいと思っています。

The Lord led us to adopt a slightly new strategy later in the afternoon.  We  met a group of young ladies in one area and they suggested we come down to their neighborhood where there were many families gathered together.  We drove down the street and found this 7-11 parking lot at the site, and the Lord told Chizuo to "open the store."  So we unloaded the truck and spread the boxes and prepared to bless the people.  Just the previous day, when we first drove by this site, there were three bodies in the same spot being prepared by a team for pickup.  The Lord turned a location of tragedy into a sanctuary of hope overnight, thank you Jesus!
その日の午後、主は私たちに新しい方法を受け入れていくよう導かれました。石巻で若い女性のグループに出会いました。彼女たちは私たちに、たくさんの家族が集まっている地域に行くことを提案しました。そこで私たちは車を進め、このセブンイレブンの駐車場に行き着きました。そこで主は、知主夫さんに「お店を広げる」ように語りました。そこで私たちはトラックから荷物を降ろし箱を広げ、人々を祝福する準備をしました。チームが「お店を広げて」いる場所はちょうど前日、この場所に来た場所で３体の遺体が安置されていました。主は悲劇の場所を一夜にして希望の聖所とされました。イエス様ありがとう！ 

And the people came!  Before we began distributing items, Chizuo addressed the crowd, making sure they knew who we are, encouraging them to take items for themselves and also for their neighbors in need, and then Pastor Rick encouraged the rest of the team to give out tracts and Bible, and tell the crowd the love of God.  It was truly a blessed event!
たくさんの人々が来ました！物資をお渡しする前に、知主夫さんが集まった方々に私たちが何者かを伝え、自分のものだけでなく必要のある近所の人々のためにも物資を持っていくことを励ましました。そして牧師のリックさんがトラクトや聖書を配り、他のチームメンバーにも神の愛を伝えることを励ましました。本当に祝福された出来事でした！

After all the supplies in our truck were distributed, we had one more divine appointment to meet.  On the way there, we passed this unique image of destruction that is worth sharing so you can get a better feel for the condition this part of Ishinomaki is in.  Be sure to notice the red boat in the center of the picture.
物資をすべて届けた後、もう一つ神が用意してくださった出会いがありました。そこに行くまでにこの写真のような特異な破壊の爪あとを通りました。この様子は石巻の一部ですが、皆さんが街の状態を理解するために分かち合う価値があると思います。

This is the divine appointment mentioned in the earlier caption.  The previous day, we had met this family in front of their house, which is intact but was swamped.  They have begun cleaning it out and are living there.  We gave them many items but Chizuo wanted to bless them with a cassette stove (portable propane stove) which was the only stock the team had in Sendai.  There is no gas available yet in that area.  So today we brought that item along and found their house only with the Lord's direction.  They were home and were stunned that we remembered them and kept our promise to return.  While talking to them, their junior high school son returned from school with the awesome news that he had passed his high school entrance exams.  This is a big deal in Japan, and the family now had a working stove with which to cook up something special to celebrate.  What a way to end the day in that town!
これが先ほど話した「神が用意してくださった出会い」です。この写真が撮られた前日、私たちはこの家族に彼らの家の前で出会いました。彼らの家は無傷ですが水浸しになってしまいました。この家族は家を掃除し、そこに住み始めていました。彼らにたくさんの物資をお渡ししましたが、知主夫さんは仙台に置いていたたったひとつのカセットコンロをプレゼントして祝福したいと思いました。その地域ではガスが止まっていて使えません。そこで今日、カセットコンロを持って、主の導きで彼らの家を見つけることができました。彼らは家にいて、私たちが戻ってくるという約束を覚えて果たしたことにとても驚いていました。彼らと話していると、中学生の息子が学校から、高校受験に合格したという素晴らしいニュースを持って帰って来ました。その家族はカセットコンロを受け取ったので、お祝いの何か特別な食事を作ることもできます。なんとすばらしい石巻での一日の終わり方でしょう。

The day was not yet over for the team, though, as they returned to the hosting church and shared a late meal with some elders, and then shared their experiences and impressions of the week, followed by worship and prayer.  It was truly a fitting way to wrap up this first trip, and the everyone was totally blessed.
チームの一日はまだ終わりません。彼らをホストしてくださっている教会に戻り、教会の長老たちと遅い夕食をいただきました。そして一週間を通してのお互いの体験や印象を分かち合いました。その後、賛美と祈りの時をもちました。本当にこれしかない、と言える最初の旅の締めくくりで、全員が心底祝福されました。

The first trip- Day 4, travel to Ishinomaki 最初の旅―4日目石巻へ

How great is our God! Our prayers continued to be answered in such completeness, it is so humbling. We feel every prayer coming down from Heaven which was placed before the throne of the Lord by our partners in this mission. Thank you!!!
主はなんと素晴らしい方でしょう！私たちの祈りに、神は完璧に答え続けてくださっています。そして神にあって低くされ続けています。このミッションのパートナーとなってくださる皆さんの祈りが、天におられる主の王座の前に立ち上り、答えとして天から下っていることを感じます。感謝します。!!!




Today we saw another face of the Tohoku disaster for the first time...the town of Ishinomaki. It is a small port town about two hours north of Sendai. It is receiving a good amount of attention by the relief organizations, but it is still in dire straits. We had heard it was heavily affected by the tsunami, and this is true in every sense.
It is the most affected town we have seen so far. There are some new videos on the video bar of Ishinomaki, please check them out.

今日、私たちは東北被害の別の一面を見ました。石巻という街です。仙台から北へ2時間のところにある小さな港町です、そこは、救援団体によってよい援助を受けています。しかし、まだ悲惨な状態にあります。そこは津波で大きな被害を受けたと聞いていました。実際にその情報はすべてにおいて事実でした。そこは、私たちが今まで見た町で最も被害の大きな場所でした。Ishinomakiと書かれた一番右のビデオをご覧下さい。

The citizens remain in large numbers, determined to wait and rebuild. Such is the patience and resilience of the Japanese people, yet they are still desperate in their hearts and concerned for the future. It was to these people we ministered today. We did this using the method that the Lord has brought to us on this trip, which was described in yesterday's post- meeting and serving souls one to one and two by two. It is a method that can seem like a longer, harder road to travel than just providing for the physical needs of the people. But the burden is light when it is of the Lord, and to drive through town and find the individuals the Lord brought to us did not feel like a burden at all. And with our new friend Asano joining us in this vision today, the burden was even lighter, and we experienced the joy of walking in the Lord's will.

大部分の住民が忍耐して、町を再建することを決めました。なんと忍耐と回復力のある人々でしょう。それでも彼らの心には、絶望感と将来への不安がありました。今日はそのような方々に仕えることができました。私たちは、昨日の記事でも触れた「一人が一人を二人が二人に仕える」というこの旅を通して、神が与えてくださった方法で人々に仕えています。この方法では人々の物理的な必要を満たすのに時間がかかり、困難に見えるかもしれません。しかし、重荷が主のものであれば軽くなります。街を運転することも、主が出会わせてくださる人々を探すことも、全く重荷とはなりませんでした。そして、新しい友人の浅野さんが、この日ビジョンに一緒に加わることで、重荷はさらに軽くなり、主の御心の中を喜んで歩む経験をしました。

An answered prayer! Chizuo holds the police-issued vehicle pass we obtained yesterday which allowed us to fill up the gas tank at a relief vehicle-only designated gas station, and then use the freeway to get north to Ishinomaki.

祈りが聞かれました！知主夫さんが持っているのは、昨日警察署で発行された緊急車両通行証です。このおかげで救援車両用のガソリンスタンドで燃料を満タンにして、高速道路で北の石巻へ向かうことができました。

Pastor Chizuo hands items to a family whose home is in the background. When asked what they are going to do, they answered that at least their foundation is still intact, so they are going to rebuild on the same land.

知主夫さんが、物資を手渡しています。後ろには彼らの家がありました。これからどうするのか尋ねると、少なくとも土台はあるので、同じ場所に家を建て直すつもりだと言っていました。

Same family as above picture, but after talking a little more, their hearts opened up and they were thankful for Chizuo praying for them in the name of Jesus Christ. It is doubtful they know the Lord personally at this time, but we know they had an encounter with the Creator of the Universe today.

上の写真のご家族です。彼らと少し話した後、心が開かれ、彼らはイエス・キリストの名で彼らのために祈った知主夫さんに感謝していました。この時、彼らが個人的に主を知ったかどうかはわかりませんが、万物の造り主に出会えたと思います。

A new location, just down the street, and another opportunity to pray. This woman has not been able to make contact with her mother-in-law in another prefecture, and the worry came forth with tears as Chizuo took her burden to the Lord.

新しい場所にて。通りを少し下ったところで祈る機会が与えられました。この女性は別の県にいる義母とまだ連絡が取れていません。知主夫さんが彼女の重荷を主が負ってくださるように祈ると、彼女の不安が涙となってあふれました。

Yet another location, and another family. These children received our gifts with such pleasure. There is literally nothing to do in the shelters of Ishinomaki, and we saw this family leave us, wandering the ruined streets.

別の場所で別の家族です。子供達はとても喜んで贈り物を受け取ってくれました。石巻の避難所には文字通り、何もすることがありません。この家族は私たちと別れた後、壊れた道を行くあてもなく歩いて行きました。

The first trip- Day 3 in Sendai 最初の旅ー仙台、三日目

Today in Sendai we, the first team, wish to communicate to you about how the Lord brought this trip together, and also to describe a little about the flow of the trip. We wish to do this with the desire that you can pray more specifically about the Lord's will for Japan and for His will in the teams that will come after us in this mission field. We wish only to glorify the Lord in describing these things to you frankly and honestly.

今日は主がどのようにこの仙台への旅を導いたのか、そして旅の動きについて少し分かち合いたいと思います。そのことによって、みなさんがもっと具体的に日本に対する主の御心と、このミッションにおいて次につながるチームのためにも祈っていただけるようにと願っています。みなさんに率直にこれらを伝えられるように、ただ主に栄光が帰されるようにと願います。

You have met Pastor Chizuo Sakurai of Calvary Chapel Kokubunji, but he has asked me to introduce myself, also. I am Maxx Godsey, and I am an active Marine Corps major living in Japan for one year as part of the Marine Corps Foreign Area Officer program. My wife is Laura and we have four daughters, ages 10, 9, 3 and 1, and the Lord has given us a great burden for the Japanese to know the love of Christ and receive His saving Grace. We began immediately praying for a church to attend in Tokyo and the Lord guided us to Jesus Community CC Kokubunji. We emailed with Pastor Chizuo even before we moved, and we attended worship the first Sunday we arrived in early January. The Lord can work so fast sometimes!

みなさんはカルバリー・チャペル国分寺の知主夫さんをすでにご存知かもしれませんが、知主夫さんは私にも自己紹介するようにとおっしゃいました。私はマックス･ガッツィーといい、海兵隊員であり、海軍外国地域士官プログラムの一環として日本に1年間滞在します。私の妻の名前はローラで、私たちには4人の娘がいます。10才，9才，3才そして1才の娘です。主は私たちに、日本人にキリストの愛を伝え、救いの恵みを受け取ることに対する重荷を与えてくださいました。

私たちはすぐに東京の教会に集うことが出来るように祈り始めると、主はジーザス・コミュニティ（カルバリー・チャペル国分寺）に導いてくださいました。ちょうど引っ越す前に牧師の知主夫さんへメールを送り、1月上旬に到着して１週目の日曜礼拝に参加しました。主は時々とても早く働かれます！

Why I have been blessed to serve the Lord in Sendai with Pastor Chizuo this week after being in Japan for such a short time I am still discovering, but one thing I have discovered is that the Holy Spirit is certainly working in Japan! One way He has been doing this is by partnering Japanese and American Christians together. The Lord is so grand and the body of Christ is so big, we are only talking about a small part of the entire spectrum, but Pastor Chizuo and I wish to humbly declare that what the Lord is doing through us is an example for future teams, particularly in regards to the developing mission in the Tohoku (northwest) region. Brotherhood and sisterhood in Christ is the key, and the revival in Japan will come one to one and two by two. Come, Holy Spirit, to Your people in Japan! Maranatha!

まだ来日して日も浅いにもかかわらず、なぜか私は知主夫さんと一緒に仙台で主に仕えるという祝福を受けています。しかし私が気づいたことは、聖霊は確かに日本で働かれているということです！聖霊が行っている一つの方法は日本とアメリカのクリスチャンが一緒になって取り組んでいることです。主はとても素晴らしい方であり、キリストのからだはとても大きく、私たちは全体の中でほんの小さな範囲でしか話していませんが、知主夫さんと私は、主が私たちを通してなさる事が将来のチームのお手本となって謙遜に伝えている事を願います。特に東北でのミッションの発展となることを。キリストにある兄弟姉妹がカギであり、日本でのリバイバルは一人一人の働きによって増し加えられていくのです。　聖霊様、来てください。日本のあなたの民の元へ！マラナタ！「主イエスよ、来てください！」

Pastor Chizuo and Maxx Godsey in their shared work room and sleeping room in the host church in Sendai. We have been so blessed with a warm room, plenty of tea to drink, hot water to shower, and plenty of power outlets to stay connected! Communication remains a huge element in any mission work.

知主夫さんとマックス･ガッツィー。仙台の教会の一室を作業場と寝室兼用として使わせていただいている。私たちは温かい部屋、お茶や暖かいお湯が出るシャワーや接続可能な電源に囲まれ、とても祝福されている。コミュニケーションはどのミッションの働きにおいても重要である。

The flow of this trip has always remained in the Lord's hands, but we have seen some patterns emerging which we wish to share. The first is constant prayer and sharing Scripture for every need- all have been answered in ways more than we hoped for. The second is using each other as sounding boards to discuss decisions throughout the day, no matter how small or large. The third is taking time in the mornings and evenings to dedicate to communicating with family and friends (crafting these blog posts each night is a good example!) The fourth has been to balance spying out the land with direct ministry to the people- doing both each day, if possible, keeps providing momentum to the mission. The fifth has been to always make time to connect with Christians to encourage and be encouraged- one great example was on Sunday when a Korean brother who is studying Japanese here in Sendai came to us after the service with these words- "So many people are evacuating Tokyo and Sendai, but you guys came to us instead, thank you!" And a sixth would be to heed the words of Pastor Chuck, "Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be broken!" or as the Marines like to say "Semper gumby!"

この旅の流れはいつも主の御手の中にある。しかし、私たちはシェア出来たらと思ういくつかの新しいパターンを見てきた。まず第一に絶えず祈り、すべての必要に応じて神のことばを分かち合うこと。これらを通し、全てのことは私たちが望んだ以上に答えられてきた。第二に、インターネットの掲示板などお互いの情報を通して、その日どのようにするか話し合うこと。どんなに小さな事でも大きな事でもである。第三に朝晩に家族や友達とのコミュニケーションの為の時間を持つこと（その日の夜に、これらのブログを更新する作業がとても良い例！）。第四は、直接人々へ伝道した場所を考察し、もし可能なら勢いをもって福音を伝えること。第五はいつも、励まし励まされる為にクリスチャンと連絡を取る時間を作ること。1つの素晴らしい例は、日曜日の礼拝の後に仙台で日本語を学んでいる韓国人の兄弟が私たちのもとに来て、「たくさんの人が東京と仙台を避難している。しかしあなた達は、それにも関わらず、私たちの為に来てくれました。ありがとうございます！」と言ってくれたことである。第六はパスターチャックのセリフを思い出してほしい。「柔軟な者は幸いである。彼らは打ち負かされることがない！」ちょうど海軍が"Semper gumby!(常に柔軟であれ)"と言うように！

Part of spying out the land and building local relationships- this gentlemen works in a Sendai police station and gave us the favor of giving us a pass for the truck, declaring it an official relief vehicle which will give us new access to key roads.

ある場所を視察し、地域との関係を築いている。この男性は仙台警察署で働いていて、トラックの通行許可を好意で与えてくれた。それは後に公共援助車の通行許可証となった。

Right after we left the police station, it was time to get back to the people and deliver some hope! These ladies are receiving blankets, jackets, food, hand sanitizer, etc, right in front of their devastated home. We have found that at this time, taking the truck down to the destroyed neighborhoods is equally effective to taking supplies to refugee sites, and perhaps even more of a blessing to those we travel to because they are not expecting anything to be brought to them.

警察署を後にするとちょうど人々が戻ってきて、いくつかの希望を運んでいる。この女性達はブランケット、ジャケット、食べ物、手の消毒剤などを受け取っている。目の前にはめちゃくちゃに壊された家。私たちは、この時その家の近所の被災者たちへ物資を渡す事ができた。彼らは自分たちに支給されるとは期待していなかったようなので、それは私たちの旅でも祝福となった出来事であった。

Another part of building relationships, we had dinner tonight with this gentleman Asano-san and his family. They came forward after the Sunday service and showed interest in the mission, so we have begun this relationship and it will flourish as the Lord leads.

親切なあさのさんと彼の家族と一緒に夕食。彼らは日曜礼拝の後で福音に関心を持っていたので、私たちは連絡を取り始めた。主の導きによって成長するだろう。

In closing this post, we realize that the way we are being led by the Lord in conducting this mission may not be the way the Lord directs the teams after us. But we just wish to say that we have been so very blessed with this trip, and together we share a deeper friendship and burden for Jesus to be made known in Japan than before we came. この記事を書き終えつつ、私たちはこのミッションは主がチームを指揮するやり方ではないかもしれないと考えていた時、それは主によって導かれている事に気づきました。しかし私たちはこの旅で本当に祝福され、ともに深い友情を築くことが出来、私たちが来た頃よりももっと日本に対するキリストの思いを分かち合っています。あなたの祈りとサポートに感謝します。明日またお話しします！

The first trip- Day 2 in Sendai 最初の旅ー仙台、二日目

Hello again from Sendai! The team enjoyed worship and fellowship with the church who is hosting them, and was greatly encouraged by their tender hearts for their hometown.

仙台からこんにちは。チームは受け入れてくださっている教会のメンバーとの賛美をフェローシップを楽しみました。そして教会の方々の故郷に対する思いやりのある心にとても励まされました。

Pastor Chizuo and some members of the church who is hosting the team. It is a great blessing to be able to serve the body of Christ living in Sendai as well as the people who have not yet come to the Lord. The donuts in the photo were donated by a large Japanese food company, with much more being prepared in Tokyo for delivery up here.

知主夫さんと受け入れ教会のメンバーの方々。仙台のキリストの体とまだ主を知らない方々に仕えることは大きな祝福です。写真のドーナツは日本のある食品会社から寄付されたもので、次回に備えて仙台に送るために東京で今も生産されています。

Then it was time to get back on the road and spy out the land. For this first trip, a great method for the team has been to go in faith into the devastated areas for divine appointments. The Lord has been so faithful to provide those! In a town north of Sendai, another coastal community has been completely wiped away, except for a small number of houses which have been gutted. The team found a cluster of families who were continuing to clean their homes. They were shocked with gratitude at the team's offer including bread, water, first aid kits, plastic tarps, and toilet paper.

それから付近の偵察に出かけました。この最初の旅は、チームが被災地を信仰によって踏み出すために神が備えられた機会となっています。主はその機会を与えることに誠実でおられます。仙台市の海岸沿いの町には、内部が破壊された数軒の家以外はすべて流されていました。チームは自分の家を掃除しているご家族に出会いました。彼らはチームからパンや水、応急処置用品、ブルーシート、トイレットペーパーを受け取って感謝のあまりショックを受けていました。

One of the houses in the neighborhood whose owners were continuing the long clean up process. They were overwhelmed by the team's arrival and offer of supplies. Just before these men received their items, a family up the street gratefully accepted supplies, with one of the older men breaking down in tears of gratitude for the team's arrival and giving. Pastor Chizuo immediately prayed with the family in Jesus' name for comfort and provision, and the seeds of the Gospel were sown.

沿岸部にある家。家族は長くかかるであろう掃除を続けていました。彼らはチームから日用品を受け取り深く感動していました。彼らが日用品を受け取る少し前に、この家の近くにいた家族が日用品を受け取ってくださいました。その中のご年配の方は、品々が届き、配られていることに感動して泣き出しました。知主夫さんはすぐに、なぐさめと必要が与えられ、福音の種が蒔かれるように、そのご家族とイエス・キリストの名で祈りました。

Though it was not determined whether or not these families are doing it, the team heard from a local church near this neighborhood that some families have chosen to return and live in their ruined houses rather than reside in the refugee centers, which makes it hard for them to receive certain aid items.

このご家族がどう決心されたかわかりませんが、彼らの近所にある教会によると、数家族が避難所よりも壊れた自分の家に戻ることにしたそうです。このことでその家族は支援物資を受け取ることが難しくなることも事実です。

The first trip- arrival in Sendai 最初の旅ー 無事に仙台に着きました

Greetings in the Lord Jesus Christ from Sendai! First, a message from Pastor Chizuo:

仙台より主イエス・キリストにあってごあいさつを送ります！はじめに、牧師の知主夫さんよりメッセージです。

This morning I read Acts 11: 19-30. Saul persecuted the church and Stephen was martyred. More believers were assaulted by the persecution, and they were scattered abroad. But the first thing which attracts my attention in this story is that these believers preached the Word of God wherever they went! As the result of the persecution a church arose in Antioch. It amazes me to learn that Paul, the ex-persecutor then turned evangelist, started to teach there at Antioch! Later, Agabus signified by the Spirit that there would be great famine all over the world. The disciples responded and determined to minister to those who lived in disaster-stricken areas. It is very encouraging for me to know that they sent relief through the hands of Barnabas as well as the ex-persecutor Paul. God is very merciful and gracious indeed! I am learning about the true meaning of "relief" here in Sendai. Chizuo Sakurai 今朝、私は使徒11：19-30を読みました。サウルは教会を迫害し、ステパノは殉教しました。たくさんの信者は迫害によりひどく攻撃され、海外へ散らされました。しかし、まずこのストーリーで私の目を引きつけたのは、それらの信者が行くところ先々で福音を伝えたことです。迫害の結果、アンテオケで教会が立ち上がりました。かつては大迫害であった者が伝道者となり、アンテオケで教え始めたパウロの姿に私は驚ろかされます。アガボは世界中に大きなききんが起こると聖霊によって預言しました。弟子たちはそれに応じ、災害に遭われた場所に住んでいる人たちに仕えることを決めました。、バルナバだけでなく元迫害者であったパウロの手を通しても救援物資が送られたことは大きな励ましです。神はとてもあわれみ深く実に恵み深い方です！私はここ仙台で本当の「救援」の意味を学んでいます。

The first team arrived in Sendai Saturday afternoon completely without incident, praise the Lord, except for having to wait in long lines for gas in Yamagata, the nearest big town. The team could feel the prayers of the saints as the road was cleared for an easy entry.
最初のチームは一番大きな町、山形でガソリンを入れるために長い列の中待たされたこと以外全くトラブルはなく、土曜の午後に仙台に到着しました。主にほめたたえます。スムーズに入る事が出来、チームは聖徒たちの祈りを感じました。

Sendai is a very large city of approximately 1 million people, and except for some minor damage from the earthquake and huge lines of people outside the grocery stores, one might think there never had been a disaster there...until you come to the tsunami zone.
仙台は約100万人が住んでいる大都市で、地震からの大きな被害と食品店に並ぶ長い人々の列を除き、決してそこで災害があったと思えないかもしれません。あなたがこの津波の押し寄せた場所に来るまでは...。


The team immediately made an initial survey of the devastated area, and neither words nor pictures can accurately describe the scene, but here are some shots with their caption information:

チームはすぐに被害にあった場所をまず視察しました。それは言葉も写真も正確にそのシーンを写しだす事が出来ません。しかし、ここにはいくつかの状況写真とキャプションがあります。

牧師の知主夫さんは海岸地区からアメリカへ電話中。彼の後ろには海から約4キロほど津波の跡が見え、さらにその後ろには仙台の地平線が見える。

Pastor Chizuo talks with an elderly couple who were returning to their neighborhood for the very first time since the tsunami. No one in their family was killed or seriously injured, but the lady was trapped in the top floor of their house as it was swept off the foundation and pushed three kilometers west where it finally stopped and she was able to leave the house safely. They were given some supplies from the truck to meet their immediate needs.

津波から初めて近所へと戻ったという年配のお年寄りと出会い、知主夫さんが話しかけている様子。彼らのご家族は、誰も亡くなった方や怪我された方はいなかった。しかし、その女性は自宅の最上階も土台も西へ3キロ押し流され、止まったそうである。そして家を出ることが出来たと。この方々にはトラックからすぐに必要な物資が与えられた。

Pastor Chizuo talks with the man in the middle of what used to be their house. Residents of these areas are starting to rummage through the destruction for cherished items to salvage. Also on scene are many search and rescue workers.

知主夫さんは、かつてこの中央に家があった男性と話している。この地域の住民は、自分達が大切にしていたものをくまなく捜し始めている。また、ここでは多くの捜索活動やレスキュー隊が働いている。

After surveying the destruction, the team arrived at the local church and with the help of members began organizing the relief supplies.

視察の後、チームは地元の教会に着いた。みんなで協力しながら物資を運んでいる。

Two hours after arriving at the church, which is within about one kilometer of the edge of the tsunami impact, the assembled members pray with Pastor Chizuo before going to several refugee sites to distribute the perishable foods.

津波の衝撃を受けた約1キロ以内の教会に着いて2時間後。被災された方が食べ物を分かち合う前に、知主夫さんは集まったメンバーと一緒に祈る。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

The team delivers food to a refugee site of about 1000 people who are living in a large elementary school building. A total of four refugee centers were visited last night, including one which housed children whose parents were still missing. In addition to food distributed, the church team, many of whom were teenagers, gave out toys to every child they found in the centers. Love in action!

大きな小学校に避難している1000人へ食べ物を運んでいるチームの様子。昨夜は合計4つの避難所に訪問したが、両親が未だ行方不明である子どもたちにも食べ物は行き渡った。しかもこの教会のチームの多くは10代の子ども達で、中央施設で見つけたすべての子どもたちにおもちゃを配っていたのだ。愛には行いが伴う！
