Six of us made up the team this week as we ventured up to Ishinomaki to serve the Lord Tuesday through Thursday. Three sisters from Jim Elliot Christian School in Lodi, CA, a CCBC Okinawa student/missionary, our friend and Japanese language teacher, and myself. For the four ladies, it was their first time to serve in Tohoku relief ministry. Two of the sisters arrived at Haneda Int'l. at 4:55a.m., came to our house, repacked and then the six of us headed up to Sendai. Thank the Lord for these girls' flexibility and youthfulness.
今週の火曜日から木曜日まで、私たちは６人のチームで主に仕えるために石巻にいきました。カリフォルニア州ロディにあるジム・エリオット クリスチャンスクールから来た３人の姉妹、CCBC沖縄の学生/宣教師、私たちの友人である日本語教師、そして私自身です。４人の姉妹にとっては、東北リリーフミニストリーで仕える初めての機会でした。２人の姉妹は4:45AMに羽田国際空港に到着し、私たちの家に来てから再び荷造りをし、それから私たち６人は仙台に向かいました。彼女たちの柔軟さと若さを主に感謝します！

We were not sure what the Lord had planned, but we were praying and following His lead step-by-step. Our hearts were to share the love of Jesus with whomever and however we could in the areas of Ishinomaki that relationships were being built.

We spoke with Hiratsuka-san in the central Ishinomaki area, a place we had been early on with our team that cleaned and cleared near the soy sauce factory. He asked us to come at 10AM and help. It was a blessing to follow up from the week before when Chihiro-san and the CC Kokubunji team helped here. Hiratsuka-san asked us to clear to the end of his house, but we wanted to help him all the way.
私たちは主が何を計画しているのかわかりませんでしたが、祈り、彼の導きに一歩一歩従いました。私たちの願いは、関係が築かれている石巻地域で、誰にで も、何とかしてイエスの愛を分かち合うことでした。私たちは石巻の中心地、しょうゆ工場近くにある私たちが以前清掃作業をしてきれいにした場所でひらつか さんと話しました。彼は１０時に来て助けてくれるようにと私たちに依頼しました。１週間前にここで、千尋さんとカルバリーチャペル国分寺のチームが行なっ た支援のフォローアップができることは祝福でした。ひらつかさんは私たちに彼の家の終わりのところまできれいにして欲しいと頼みましたが、私たちは彼を最 後まで助けたいと願っていました。

He was grateful that we stayed and finished the clearing of all the mud that filled the drainage ditch. We had a great opportunity to listen to him, to talk with him, to encourage and to love. He knows we love Jesus and are doing it all for Him. We hope that a great bridge is being built as our groups continue to reach out to them with the love of Jesus.
彼は私たちが残って、排水溝に詰まっていた泥をすべて取り除く作業を最後まで行なったのでとても感謝していました。私たちは彼の話を聞き、彼と語り、励まし愛するすばらしい機会を持ちました。彼は私たちがイエスを愛し、すべてを彼のために行なっていることを知っています。私たちのグループが続けてイエスの愛を持って彼らに手を伸ばすとき、すばらしい橋がかけられていくことを期待しています。

Next, we made our way along the Onagawa highway towards the Watanoha neighborhood. We stopped at the building our CTR teams have rented to use in reaching the community around the Evacuation center. It was great to think about the possibilities for outreach right in the local neighborhood. EXCITING!!
次に、私たちは女川高速を渡波に向かって進みました。私たちはCTRチームが避難所のまわりにあるこの地域を支援するために借りている建物に寄りました。この場所でのアウトリーチの可能性について考えることは、とても興奮することでした！

Next, we went to check on a local neighborhood family that we had given food, clothes, and a gospel tract to last time. We were bringing some more food and shirts/socks for the children. This family, the Abe's, are living in their home still, though it was water damaged, and are having difficulty with daily life. Mrs. Abe was so surprised to see us and happy; she cried. She also told us the diapers we gave her last time were too big for her baby. So, we now knew her exact needs. And, Mr. Abe shared with us that his job and company were lost to the disaster; their car was destroyed, and other losses, but they were happy to be alive.
つぎに、前回私たちが食料、衣服、トラクトを渡した家族の様子を見に行きました。私たちはより多くの食料、子供用のシャツと靴下を持っていきました。このご家族、あべさん一家は、家が水による被害を受けましたが、今でも彼らの家で生活し、日々苦労しています。あべさん（婦人）は私たちを見てとても驚き喜び、泣いていました。彼女は、前回私たちが渡したおむつは彼女の赤ちゃんには大きすぎたことを教えてくれました。ですから、私たちは今、彼女が本当に必要としているものを知ることができました。阿部さんは彼の仕事と会社が災害によって失われたこと、彼らの車が破壊されたこと、その他失ったもののことを私たちに教えてくれましたが、生かされていることを喜んでいました。

We prayed with them and promised to bring them a new bicycle, groceries, diapers and whatever they might need. As we talked in front of their house, we got an email from one of the couples from our church that asked if we knew anyone who might need a car---wow! Divineappointment! Right then, we told the Abe family that a Honda Accord was available to them, for FREE! They were thrilled, we were amazed, and God was glorified! The car is being driven to them from Tokyo in two weeks. PRAISE THE LORD!
私たちは彼らと共に祈り、新しい自転車、食料雑貨、おむつ、彼らが必要としていると思われるものを持ってくるという約束をしました。私たちが彼らの家で語り合っているとき、私たちの教会のカップルからメールが届き、それは「車を必要としている人はいませんか？」という内容でした。神が与えてくださる出会いは素晴らしい！そこですぐに阿部さんにホンダ・アコードが無料で渡せるということを伝えました。彼は感動し、私たちは驚き、神様が栄光を受けました！車は２週間の内に、東京から彼らのもとに運ばれます。主をほめたたえます！

Next, we needed to find Utsumi-san to get the bicycle where we have more than 60 that were donated by CRASH Japan for use in Ishinomaki outreach. I had no idea where to start, but we drove to the Watanoha Evacuee center, AND, as soon as we pulled in to the parking in back--there he was--Utsumi-san!! Wow, the Lord is so good! He was happy to help and led us on his bike to where the bicycles are being stored. We then took one to deliver to the Abe family. Sekiko-san prayed with Mrs. Abe and there were many hugs and tears.
次の日、私たちは石巻アウトリーチで使うために、クラッシュジャパンから寄付された６０台以上の自転車があるところから自転車を受け取るために、うつみさんを捜しました。私はどこから始めたらよいかわかりませんでしたが、渡波避難所に向かいました。そして、駐車場に車を入れるとすぐに、うつみさんがそこにいました！主はすばらしい！うつみさんは喜んで私たちを助け、自転車が保管されているところまで彼は自転車で私たちを導いてくれました。それから私たちは１台の自転車をあべさんご家族のところに持っていきました。せきこさんがあべさん（婦人）と祈り、そこには多くのハグと涙がありました。

THURSDAY 6.16

We were able to shop for the Abe family at a supermarket, and get all they needed. And, we picked up the rubber boots and some clothing they needed as well. At the Homac Store, we met a Samaritan's Purse leader and he share that they were beginning the first house building project in Ishinomaki and they've committed to building 200+ houses! We prayed together in front of the store and exchanged contact information. Another opportunity to serve Jesus in Ishinomaki!!
私たちはスーパーマーケットであべさんご家族のために、彼らが必要としているものすべてを買うことができました。それから私たちは長ぐつと彼らが必要な衣類も購入しました。ホマックストアーで私たちはサマリタンズパースのリーダーと会い、彼は石巻で一つ目の家を建てるプロジェクトを開始し、２００軒以上の家を建てる予定であることを分かち合ってくれました！私たちは店の前で共に祈り、連絡先を交換しました。石巻でイエス様に仕えるもうひとつの機会です！

The rest of our day was spent at the Watanoha Evacuee Center with our new friends, Makoto-san, Takeyama-san, Utsumi-san, and others. We had lots of time to talk and share, to listen, and pray. We were able to give a bicycle to Makoto's parents who are living in the shelter. We ate lunch outside together and we were very blessed.
この日の残りは渡波避難所で新しく知り合った友人たちと共に過ごしました。まことさん、たけやまさん、内海さん、そのほかの方々です。私たちは語り合い、分かち合い、聞き、祈るたくさんの時間を持ちました。私たちは避難所で生活されているまことさんの両親に、自転車を渡すことができました。私たちは外でランチをいっしょにすることができ、とても祝福されました。

The Lord continues building bridges, relationships, and friendships to the hearts of people. Makoto-san said he believes there is a purpose that he survived; he is seeking God. Utsumi-san has provided a building for our CTR team to use for outreach in Ishinomaki...we continue to point them to Jesus.
主は続けて人々の心に橋をかけ、関係と友情を築いてくださっています。まことさんは、彼は生き残っていることには目的があると信じている、と言いました。彼は神様を求めています。内海さんはCTRチームが石巻で活動するための建物を提供してくれました。私たちは続けて彼らにイエスを示していきます！

A First-time Volunteer's Perspective (Trip#11)

God gave me many blessings through this mission trip to Sendai and Ishinomaki between 6/13 and 6/15.
6月１３日－１５日の間、機会が与えられて仙台、石巻地区に、Mission Tripに参加することが出来ました。短い期間、限られた場所でしたけれど、神様からたくさんの祝福をいただきました。これらの経験を言葉で十分に表すのは難しいですが、少しでも分かち合えることを感謝します。

Wakabayashi section of Sendai City still had some ruined cars and ships dispersed
upon the pond of black mud, perhaps where there used to be a rice field, while much of the rubble had been removed already. It was encouraging to see an old man who was making preparations for the Tanabata festival coming up in August, just as every other year, showing life goes on.
ベースのある仙台市に着いて、若林地区がどんな状態か案内をして頂きました。がれきはかなり撤去されていましたが、本当は稲田であったであろう所が、黒っぽいヘドロ混じりの池のようになっていました。所々に車や船がまだ残っていました。まだまだ復旧は終わっていないですが、朝近所を散歩していたら、8月に行われる仙台の七夕祭りのため、ぼんぼりを作っていたお年寄りに会いました。復旧と同時に復興をしていく為に頑張っている様子を見せていただいた気がして嬉しかったです。

The 2nd day started with removing the polluted mud out of a drain line of a house in Ishinomaki, which took six of us four hours, then we moved on to the Watanoha section of the city. Much of the debris still remains in this section of the city, and some dead bodies are expected to be found in the cleaning effort in the days ahead.

二日目は、石巻のあるお宅の側溝に積もって流れを詰まらせている汚泥をかき出す仕事をしました。大人が６人かかっても４時間以上かかる作業でしたから、全体の清掃の仕事がなかなか進まない事がわかりました。次に石巻の渡波（Watanoha）地区に入っていきました。ここに来ると様子は一転します。この地域は一番捜査が遅れている所らしく、海に近い一帯はまだ何も手を付けられていない状態で、ようやく車の通れる道が開かれたのみです。これからがれきの跡から行方不明者が出てくるだろうと言われているとの事です。－実は翌日、自衛隊が入り、行方不明者の捜索をしました。


We went back to the Watanoha section on the 3rd day to deliver some grocery items to a household, who recently came back from a shelter. We are glad to be able to give some t-shirts to the kids who had been feeling terrible every time other kids had asked why they were wearing the "same shirt".
三日目も同じく渡波地区に行き、朝はあるお宅に生活必需品や食品を届けました。この家族は最初近くの避難所にいましたが、そこから帰宅し、今は自宅に住んでいます。お姉さん（妹さん？）の家族が避難所にいるので、一緒に住むように招いたのですが、彼女の子供たちは、当時、満潮の時に海水が家の玄関まで入って来ていたので、水が怖くて嫌がったとの事です。また、状況をわかっていないクラスの子供たちから、「どうして、毎日同じ服を着ているの？」とか「帰るおうちが無いんでしょ？」と言われたと聞かされた親は本当につらい、と涙ぐんでいらっしゃいました。昨日、届けられた子供のＴシャツで、少しでも元気になってくれる事を願うとともに、心のケアの必要を示されます。

Makoto, a volunteer manager of the shelter, as he was giving a guided tour of the place, opened up and shared his worst experience through the 3/11 disaster, that is to see a child being taken away by the tsunami right in front of the parent. "It's not fair that a guy like me would survive and many good people and innocent kids would have their lives taken away.", he continued, "If there is a god, maybe he has some purpose in me." We pray that he will discover there is and who He is.

以前からチームの皆さんがコンタクトを取っておられた、市の臨時職員で避難所のリーダーをしているマコトさんが、避難所の中を案内しながら、自分の体験や気持ちを分かち合ってくださいました。彼が一番辛かった事は、親の目の前で、子供が津波にさらわれていくのを見ながら助ける事のできなかった親の悲しみを見る事。彼はさらに続けて、「自分のようにいい加減な人生を生きてきたものが助かって、将来のある子供たちや、もっと素晴らしい人が死んでしまった。何故かわからないし、罪責感さえ感じる。でも、神様がいるとするなら、神様はきっと私の人生に何か目的があるのでしょう。」と語った。彼がそれを見出すように、心から祈ります。

This shelter had as many as 1,500 people at one point, but the number now is down to 230. The problem is far from over, however. People who are feeling hopeless try to find answers in wrong places, and some go to alcohol and others commit suicide. Let us pray that at least the survivors will find the meaning of life and purpose assigned by the living God, and however little it may be, let us do something to help.
最初の頃、最高時１，５００人程いたこの避難所の方たちは、今２３０人位になり、少しずつ落ち着いてきたとの事です。しかし、それと同時に、生活に差が出てきて、人々が焦ったりして、いろいろな問題が生じてくるとのことでした。せっかく助かった命なのに将来に希望がもてず自殺する人たち、アルコール中毒になる方たちも多くなっているとの事でした。生かされた人々が、神様から与えられている人生の意味、目的を知ることが出来、命を大切にして生きるようにと祈ると同時に、そのために少しでも協力して行きたい思いを持って帰途につきました。

Trip #9- The Typhoon Saga 台風冒険記

5/30 - 6/1 (MON - WED)

DAY 1: With a very strong typhoon threatening to come up from it's earlier sweeping of Okinawa, we were in deep prayer for the Lord's direction on this trip. We were not sure if we should go for it, or hang back and let the weather blow through. We were told Ishinomaki was flooding and landslides were likely. This was also combined with high tides and the sinking of the coastline. It was total dependence on Him. So, with final peace, we decided on going, though one team member dropped out in the final hours.

１日目：沖縄で吹き荒れた強い台風が北上しているという恐れの中、私たちは今回の旅の導きを主に求めました。行くべきなのか、それとも立ち止まって、天候が変わるのを待つべきなのか。私たちは、石巻では洪水と地すべりが起こっているのではないかということを聞きました。これは満潮と海岸沿いの地盤沈下も関わっています。完全に主に対する信頼でした。一人が直前でキャンセルしましたが、私たちは、最終的には平安を持って、行く決断をしました。

We had retrieved the team van from Pastor Chizuo's house the night before, and so we were ready to make our way from our church building in Machida on Monday morning. Our team of four consisted of: Eriya Kato (our drummer), Keiju Otani, Alex Robinson (CCBC Okinawa student/missionary), and myself. We loaded up the van with donated supplies of food, clothing, diapers, and more and we departed at 11:30am for Haneda Airport to retrieve Alex and Eriya. The drive went smooth and easy. Finally, the four of us were headed out of Tokyo and up the Tohoku Expressway, bound for a local Church in Sendai.

私たちは、前夜に桜井牧師の家からチームのバンを持って来ていたので、月曜日の朝、私たちの町田市（東京都）にある教会から出発することができました。私たちのチームは、加藤エリヤ（教会のドラム奏者）、大谷けいじゅ、アレックス ロビンソン（カルバリーチャペルバイブルカレッジ沖縄の学生/宣教師）、そして私の４人でした。私たちは、ささげられた食料、衣類、おむつなどの救援物資を積み込み、午前１１時３０分に出発し、アレックスとエリヤを拾うために羽田空港に向かいました。ドライブはスムーズで順調でした。４人そろった私たちは、東京を出て、東北道に乗り、仙台の教会に向かいました。

We arrived early enough to get dinner at the Tonkatsu Restaurant and then returned to the Sendai base to get prepared and prayed up for the next day in Ishinomaki.

私たちは早く到着したので、とんかつレストランで夕食を取ることができました。それから仙台ベースに戻り、次の日のための準備をして祈りました。

DAY 2: After some prayer and devotion time, we headed out for Ishinomaki, but drove through Arahama to asses the damages there. It was like a desert, totally devastated by the tsunami and nothing remained but scattered work crews. It was my first time through that seaside town, less than 5km from our base. Very close indeed.

２日目： 祈りとディボーションの後で、私たちは石巻に向かいましたが、荒浜を通り、そこの被災状況を見てきました。それはまるで砂漠のようで、津波によって完全に破壊されていました。そこには何もなく、ただ作業している人々が散在していました。私は初めてこの海岸沿いの町を通りました。私たちのベースがある教会から５キロ以内のところで、本当にすぐ近くでした。

We then began the drive out to Ishinomaki, calling some of our contacts again, along the way. One contact told us he finished up the cleaning he needed, but would think of other needs and return our call.  Another call was to an answering service, and one more to Makoto-san at the Watanoha Evacuation Center at the elementary school. Makoto-san told us to come and he would have projects for us.

私たちは、関係者の方々に再び連絡を取りながら石巻に向かいました。そのうちのある方は、必要な清掃作業は終了し、別の必要が生じたら連絡すると言われました。別の方は留守番電話になっており、もう一人の方、渡波避難所（小学校）のまことさんから、仕事があるから来て欲しいと言われました。

None of the other three guys on our team had been to Ishinomaki before, though they had served at Matsushima, Iwaki, and Sendai. When we reached Ishinomaki, the extent of the damage was surprising to them, especially considering it had been almost 3 months since the tsunami. Roadways have cleared, debris is being piled high, but still a mess everywhere one looks.

チームメンバーの３人は、松島、岩城、仙台などで活動してきましたが、誰一人として石巻に行ったことはありませんでした。石巻に着いたとき、その被害の大きさに彼らは驚きました。特に津波からほぼ３ヶ月が経過していることを考慮すると。道路はきれいにされ、瓦礫は山積みにされていましたが、それでもなお、至るところがめちゃくちゃでした。

There still remains rubble and debris, almost 3 months later in Ishinomaki. Many needs, big job, but we serve a BIG God. We are seeing His hand move in the hearts of people; changing lives one at a time...

ほぼ３ヶ月後の石巻には今でも破片、瓦礫が残っています。多くの必要と仕事がありますが、私たちは偉大な神様に仕えています。私たちは神様の御手が人々の心の上で動き、少しづつ人生を変えてくださっているのを見ています。

We went by the Kawanami's house first to see if they were home. It looked like they may have moved out. They were among only 9 survivors in their neighborhood and the only 2 to stay in their home months after the tsunami. They were so happy our teams had helped them to recover most of their yard and clean inside their house.

私たちは、川並さんご家族がいるかどうかを知るために、まずかわなみさんの家のそばに行きました。どうやら彼らはすでに移動したようでした。彼らはその近辺で生き残った９人の生存者のうちの二人で、彼らだけが津波の後で数ヶ月間、彼らの家に残っていました。彼らは私たちのチームが、彼らの庭や家の中の掃除を助けたことをとても喜んでいました。

We drove through the danchi area we call 'B' Section and it looked much cleaner, power had been restored, and not too many people appeared around there. We drove on.

私たちは、Bセクションと私たちが呼んでいる団地近辺を通りました。そこはよりきれいになっており、電力も回復されていました。そこに、あまり多くの人は見当たりませんでした。私たちは続けて車を走らせました。

Our first stop in Watanoha was at the former wetsuit building that our CTR team has considered for an outpost/cafe/base in the community. We went in and looked around at the 2 floors and a bit outside. It looked like a great possibility in reaching out to the people in the area.

最初に私たちが立ち止まったところは、渡波が来る以前はウェットスーツの店舗だったところです。そこはCTRのチームが地域での拠点、カフェをと考えているところです。私たちは２階と外側を見てまわり、この地域でのアウトリーチに大きな可能性があると思いました。

Next, we went to the evacuation center at Watanoha Elementary School across the street from the CTR site. The ground was covered in water and mud following the heavy wind and rain brought my the typhoon. The first people we talked with warned of the coming 3:30PM high tide and flood waters that were expected. We had our gear on and were ready for what may come. More prayers went up to the Lord to lead us.

次に、私たちはCTRの敷地から向かいの渡波小学校にある避難所に行きました。校庭は台風による暴風と雨の影響で泥水に覆われていました。私たちが最初に話した人は午後３時３０分に満潮になり、洪水になるという警告をしてくれました。私たちは気を引き締めて警告に備え、導きを求めてより多くの祈りを主にささげました。

We met Makato-san, the kancho (shelter leader) and he asked if we could build a new canopy/awning for the outdoor food area. The typhoon had destroyed their's the day before. We considered it a privilege to do this for them and knew the Lord would use it to further build trust and relationship with the people in this community. We worked alongside the guys there and had good conversation, learning of their experiences and stories of survival. Our leader was Takeyama-san, and his son, Kouki joined us later.
私たちは、避難所のリーダーまことさんに会い、外の食事エリアに新しい日よけ、雨よけとなる屋根を作れないかと聞かれました。以前のものは、前日の台風によって壊されていたのです。私たちはその働きが行えることを特権と思い、主がこの地域の人々との信頼関係を強めるために、用いてくださると確信しました。私たちはそこの人々と共に働き、よい会話をし、彼らの経験と生き延びたことの話に耳を傾けました。私たちのリーダーはたけやまさんで、息子のこうきさんも後で加わってくれました。

The June 5th typhoon destroyed Watanoha Shelter's outside awnings...so the kancho-san, Makoto asked our team to work together with Takeyama-san to build a new and better one. Praise the Lord, He had a plan for us!! The typhoon could not stop it!

６月５日の台風によって渡波避難所の外の雨よけが壊され、私たちは館長のまことさんから、たけみやさんと協力し新しくよりよいものを作って欲しいと頼まれました。主をほめたたえます。主は私たちにご計画を持っておられたのです！台風がそれをさえぎることはできませんでした。

As we began this project, the food line was nearby as meals were served from the portable building next to the one we working on. As we pulled old nails, cut wood, assembled the beams, and chatted with the guys, the food line dwindled to the end. It finally closed and left only our team working on the project.

私たちがこのプロジェクトを始めると、食事の列が近くにあり、私たちが作業をしているところの隣にある簡易施設から食事が配られていました。私たちが古い釘を抜き、木を切り、梁を組み、語り合っていると、食事の列はだんだん短くなって終了しました。最後にはこのプロジェクト作業をしている私たちだけが残りました。

具体的な方法でイエス様の愛を分かち合った

A woman soon arrived on a bicycle and asked if she could get lunch. But, it was all gone, and she was told nothing was left. Our team heard this conversation, and called out to her as she peddled off. She stopped and we invited her to take food that we brought. She was suddenly hopeful and eager to see. Alex took her over to our van and began to bag up the fresh baked bread that was given by our local Tokyo bakery. Soon another woman arrived and had need for food and clothing. We filled them up with a variety of fruit, bread, canned goods, clothing, and more.

ひとりの女性が自転車に乗って来て、ランチをもらえるかと尋ねていましたが、もう何も残っていないと言われていました。私たちはこの会話を聞き、彼女が自転車で去ろうとしたとき、彼女を呼び止めました。彼女は止まり、私たちは彼女に私たちが持ってきた食事を持っていくようにと言いました。突然、彼女の表情は笑顔にあふれ、 アレックスは彼女を私たちのバンに連れて行き、東京にあるパン屋さんから頂いた新鮮な焼きパンを袋に入れました。すぐに別の女性が現れて、食事と衣類を必要としていました。私たちは彼らにたくさんの果物、パン、缶詰、衣類などを渡しました。

It was so much for the little lady, Tomiko-san, that we offered to put her bicycle in the van and drive her home with the goodies. So, Eriya and I loaded the van and Tomiko directed us to her home several blocks away. She was so, so, so thrilled! We were praying along the way for an opening to speak of Jesus to her.

この小さな女性、とみこさんにとって、それはあまりにもたくさんでした。私たちは彼女の自転車をバンに積み、家まで送る提案をしました。エリヤと私がバンに乗り、とみこさんが数ブロック先の彼女の家までの道を案内してくれました。彼女は、とてもとても喜んでいました。私たちは彼女にイエス様のことを伝える機会を祈りつつ彼女の家に向かいました。

When we arrived, as we unloaded, a neighbor came out of her house to see what was happening. She told us she was Kyoko and that she has a baby. Well, we had a box full of diapers! It was just what she needed! We welcomed her to food, and clothing too. She took what she needed and then the two ladies stood there grabbing our hands, and hugging and crying. Tomiko-san did not want to let go; she just cried and thanked us. Eriya asked if we could pray for them and they agreed. We got to give them tracts that talk about Jesus and times of trouble. They thanked us over and over again. It was a highlight for us!

私たちが到着し、荷物を降ろしていると、近所の方が何が起こっているのかを見るために家から出てきました。彼女はその人がきょうこさんであり、赤ちゃんがいることを教えてくれました。そう、私たちはたくさんのおむつを持っていたのです！それは彼女が本当に必要としているものでした。私たちは食べ物や衣類も持っていってくださいと言って、彼女を迎えました。彼女は必要なものを取り、二人の女性は私たちの手をとり、抱いて泣いていました。とみこさんは離れようせず、ただ泣いて感謝していました。エリヤが祈ってもいいかと尋ねると、彼らはそれに同意してくれました。私たちは彼らにイエス様と苦しい時についてのトラクトを渡すことができました。彼らは何度も何度も感謝していました。私たちのとってはそれがハイライトでした。 

We rejoined Alex and Keiju at the project and continued to work together until the awning was finished. It was strong and much bigger than the one that was destroyed by the typhoon. The old guys thanked us and we took a group picture. We were able to talk about many things and planted seeds, we hope, in their hearts.

私たちは再びアレックスとけいじゅに加わり、雨よけが完成するまで作業を続けました。それは台風によって壊されたものよりも、ずっと強く大きなものになりました。高齢の男性が私たちに感謝し、私たちはいっしょに集合写真を撮りました。私たちは彼らに多くのことについて語り、みことばの種を蒔くことができたと期待しています。

With the project Makoto-san asked us to do, now finished, we wondered what was next. It was after 4PM, still early, but we were told the tide had come in high and the areas around 'A' Section were flooded. We would not be able to go see Takahashi-san or others we knew, nor could we seek for others in that zone.

まことさんに依頼されたプロジェクトが終わり、私たち次は何かと思い巡らしました。午後４時ごろ、少しはやめでしたが、満潮になり、セクションAが洪水になったと聞きました。私たちは高橋さんや他の知人に会いに行くことができなくなり、またその地域にいる他の方々を捜し求めることもできませんでした。 

So, feeling led by the Lord, we called Travis Lear, a man Pastor Rick Barnett had met and that lived in the Shiogama/Tagajo area, south from Ishinomaki. He told us of great need in that area damaged by the tsunami. We headed his way to meet for some dinner, as it would take an hour of more. We made one more stop at Kawanami-san's house with hopes to encourage them, but there was no sign of them at all. So, through heavy 'rush hour' traffic we moved like a snail through the tunnel out of Ishinamaki's beach areas and toward's the expressway south.

そこで、主の導きを感じて、私たちはトラビス レアに連絡を取りました。彼は石巻の南、塩釜・多賀城エリアに住み、リックバーネット牧師が知り合った方です。彼はその地域が津波によって甚大な被害を受け、たくさんの必要があることを教えてくれました。私たちは彼のところへ、夕食を共にするために１時間かけて行くことにしました。私たちはもう一箇所、かわなみさんを励ましたいと思い、彼の家に立ち寄りました。しかし、彼らがいるような気配はまったくありませんでした。そこで、私たちは大渋滞する時間に、石巻海岸エリアのトンネルから南に向かう高速を通り、かたつむりのように移動しました。

We arrived in Tagajo and met with Travis at a local restaurant. He was glad to see brothers from Calvary Chapel and it encouraged us all to share all the Lord had done. He told us more about the needs in his town and how we could get involved through the Tagajo City Hall. We discussed this, prayed, and decided to return the next morning and see how we could help in a place totally new to us. Part of the decision was that this was only 20 minutes from our Sendai base and from Tagajo, we would be headed south back to Tokyo for our late Wednesday night return.

私たちは多賀城に到着し、レストランでトラビスと会いました。彼はカルバリーチャペルから来た兄弟に会って喜び、私たち全員、そのことによって主のしてくださったすべてのことを分かち合うように励まされました。彼は彼の町が抱えている必要をより詳しく、また私たちが多賀城市役所を通して、どのように関わることができるかを教えてくれました。私たちはこれについて語り合い、祈り、次の日に戻ってきて、私たちにとってまったく新しい場所で何ができるかを調べることにしました。決断の一部はその場所が私たちの仙台ベースと多賀城からたったの２０分であり、私たちは水曜日の晩に南に向かって東京に帰ることになっていたからです。

DAY 3:

We cleared out of the Sendai base early Wednesday morning and headed for the Tagajo City Hall. We were told to arrived by 8:30am to get in the volunteers line. Outside, we saw a few people geared up for clean-up and all the equipment organized under canopies. Nearby, the Japan Self-Defense Force had an encampment, that among other things had baths/showers free to use. That would be good after doing rubble/debris clean-up all day.

３日目：

私たちは仙台ベースを水曜日の朝早くに片付け、多賀城市役所に向かいました。私たちはボランティアの列に並ぶため、８時３０分までに到着するように言われていました。私たちは外で、清掃作業の準備をしている数名の人々と雨よけの下に整理されたすべての備品を見ました。近くには、日本の自衛隊の野営地があり、そこには様々な物のほか、自由に使えるお風呂とシャワーがありました。１日中、瓦礫等の清掃作業をした後にはとても気持ちがいいだろうと思いました。

We went through the process with other volunteers, a briefing, and instructions given, then we were called up in certain numbers of people needed for certain jobs. The next one needed 6 people, so they added two ladies to our group of four and we were informed of what we'd be doing. Eriya was designated as group leader, so he got the details and then we all went down to the outside equipment/supply area and gather the things we'd need. Everything was very organized as the center staff called out each item and a checklist marked down everything we took. A driver waited with a van, we loaded it up, and then he took us to the place we would work at.

私たちは他のボランティアと共に簡単な説明と指示を受け、私たちはある仕事のために数人が呼ばれました。次のものは６人が必要だったので、彼らは私たち４人のグループに二人の女性を加えました。それから私たちが何をするのかを知らされました。エリヤはグループのリーダーとして指名されたので詳細を聞き、私たちは外の備品・物資エリアに行って、必要なものを集めました。すべてが整理されていて、スタッフが各道具を確認して、すべてがチェックリスト記録されていました。運転手が待機していたバンに荷物を積んで、彼は私たちを仕事場に連れて行きました。 

It was an Indian Restaurant, Jyoti, that had filled with mud and water, leaving broken windows, toppled equipment, and related tsunami damage. Our main job was to muck out the rooms filled with smelly 3-month old mud. It was an opportunity to bless the owner and show the love of Jesus in a practical way.

そこはジョッティというインドレストランでした。 泥水まみれで、窓ガラスは割れていて、備品は今にも倒れそうで、津波による様々な被害を受けていました。私たちの主な仕事は非常に臭い３ヶ月目になる泥で満ちた部屋をきれいにすることでした。それはオーナーを喜ばせ、実際的な方法でイエスの愛を示す機会でした。

We were asked to remove the mud and mess from under a woman's house. Her husband is in the hospital and she cannot do it. We were blessed to help her and in the end, we cleaned her walkway up to the road too. It meant so much to her that we'd go the extra effort and do more than she asked for.

私たちは、泥とごみを女性の家から取り出すように依頼されました。彼女の夫は入院中で、彼女だけではできない作業でした。私たちは喜んで彼女を助け、最後には、道路につづく歩道もきれいにしました。私たちが彼女の願い以上に努力し働いたことは、彼女にとってはとても意味のあることでした。

Alex and Eriya resting for a break as we work in Tagajo City, south of Ishinomaki. The owner of Jyoti Indian Restaurant asked our team to help him. The place was filled with water and mud.

石巻の南、多賀城での作業中、一休みをしているアレックスとエリヤ。ジョッティ、インドレストランのオーナーは私たちチームに援助を求めました。この場所は水と泥でいっぱいでした。

We also had the opportunity to talk to the two ladies that joined with us. While sharing with one of them during a break, her eyes filled with tears and she said she would think about what I said of why we were doing this. It seemed to touch her deeply. The experience of working together opened doors to reach out to these volunteers from Nagano and Yokohama. We exchanged contact information and sent photos of the day.

私たちはまた私たちに加わった二人の女性とも話すことができました。休憩中に彼らのうちの一人と話しているとき、彼女の目は涙にあふれ、私が彼女に言ったこと、つまり、なぜ私たちがこの働きをしているのかという理由について考えてみると言っていました。深く彼女に触れたようでした。いっしょに働くという経験は、長野と横浜から来たこれらのボランティアの方々と分かち合うというドアを開いてくれました。私たちは連絡先を交換し、この日に取った写真を送りました。

ジョッティインドレストランのオーナーとCTRチーム。私たちは私たちのチームを助けるために加わった二人の女性と分かち合うことができました。私たちは彼らに、私たちがイエス様の愛を分かち合っていること、なぜならイエス様が東北の方々と彼らをも愛しているからであるということを伝えました。一人の方は朝の休憩中に私たちが神様の愛について語ったとき、涙を流していました。

This job was finished up, we returned to the city hall, had our obento lunch there and then offered to go out again for another job before our return to Tokyo. The next job was at a house along the riverside, which had overflowed and damaged homes along it. This home was filled with mud underneath and so we cleaned out all the mud and debris beneath its floors. It smelled bad, but the lady had remained living in it since the tsunami with no place to go. We did more than she asked, as we cleaned her walkway going out to the road.  She was very blessed by our team.

この作業が終わり、私たちは市民ホールに戻り、昼食のお弁当を食べました。それから東京に戻る前にもう一つの仕事を依頼されました。次の仕事は被災した家々があふれている川沿いの家でした。この家は下が泥まみれだったので、私たちは床の泥と瓦礫をすべてきれいにしました。とても臭かったのですが、そこの女性はどこにも行くところが無く、津波以来、ずっとそこで生活してきたのです。私たちは道路に続く歩道をきれいにし、彼女が依頼した以上のことをしました。彼女は私たちチームによってとても喜んでいました。

And, finally, we returned to city hall for our van, drove over to the JSDF showers and got all cleaned up. Alex was surprised to read Okinawan greetings on their signs and to find out they came from Okinawa! They were glad to help this way. The baths were very nice in those plain green army tents. It was like a sento, or onsen even! Only a towel was needed, everything else was supplied!

最後に、私たちはバンを取りに市民ホールに戻り、自衛隊のシャワーのところまで移動し、すべてをきれいにしました。アレックスは沖縄のことばで書かれたサインを見つけとても驚いていました。そして彼らは沖縄から来ているのだということを知りました。彼らはこのような方法で援助できることを喜んでいました。緑色のアーミーテントの中にあるお風呂はとても気持ちがいいものでした。それはまるで銭湯、あるいは温泉のようでした！タオルだけが必要で、それ以外のものはすべて備えられていました。

After our mission in Tagajo City, we were able to shower in the army tents. These were fully set up with proper sento amenities, including a large ofuro! Very refreshing! and, these troops were sent to Tohoku from Okinawa!

多賀城市での働きの後、私たちはアーミーテントの中でシャワーを浴びることができました。これはちゃんとした銭湯のような心地よさを完全に備えたもので、大浴場もありました。とてもリフレッシュされました！彼らは沖縄から東北に派遣された方々でした！

So, refreshed and tired at the same time, we headed back for Tokyo, but very, very encouraged by our experience and all the Lord did in our hearts and the hearts of the people we served. It was a good time of ministry.

リフレッシュと疲労を同時に抱えて、私たちは東京に向かって帰りました。私たちは与えられた経験と、主が私たちと私たちが仕えた人々の心にしてくださったすべてのことによって、とても励まされました。とてもすばらしい奉仕のときとなりました。
